Kangna Ranaut Biography

With a few films done, Kangna Ranaut, is one of the freshest faces of the film industry. Born in a small town named Bhambla, in Himachal Pradesh, it was her passion for acting which made her move to Delhi where she did theatre and learnt acting simultaneously.
All of just 20 years, Kangna was born on 20th March 1987. She did most of her schooling from Shimla. She studied science and aspired to become a doctor. Kangna has an elder sister named Rangoli. Ranaut's father is a businessman and her mother is a school teacher.
Moving to Mumbai was the turning point in the life of this beauty. But it was tough getting into the glam world without any contacts. One day in 2005, director Anurag Basu saw Kangna at a caf� in Mumbai and called her for an audition for the film Gangster. Tough she had no previous acting experience, she was chosen for the lead role, and the rest is history.
Kangana has done only a handful of films till date which include Ganster (2006), Who Lamhe (2006) Shaka Laka Boom Boom (2007) and Life In A Metro (2007). Her roles have been substancial and greatle appreciated by everyone. She has even received about 7 awards for the best promising debutant for Gangster in prestigious events like Filmfare, IIFA and Zee Cine Awards.
Fortunately for Kangna, things have fallen into place perfectly. She has so far worked with talented artists like Shilpa Shetty, Kay Kay Menon, Konkona Sen Sharma and Irfan Khan. She is now lookin forward to doing a second film with actor Bobby Deol (after Shakalaka Boom Boom). The film is titled “Roshni” and will be directed by Samir Karnik.
On the professional front, Kangana is a quiet girl who prefers to do performance oriented roles. On a personal front, she loves her family a lot. In the end of 2006, there were reports that Kangna’s sister, Rangoli was acid attacked by some unknown people in Dehradun. She suffered burnts on her face and body.
At present, Kangna is learning classical singing to improve her dialogue delivery. She is a chic girl with a sensible style of dressing. Even at the recently held IIFA awards, she was a show stealer.

After Kangna and Adhyayan surprised people by hooking up, they went on to make their relationship official with uninhibited public declarations of love. News of their split, after a year of being together, has shocked many, including Kangna, as Adhyayan has initiated the move. Apparently , erratic schedules and time spent apart in different locations for their films has taken its toll. That Adhyayan's father, Shekhar Suman, never liked Kangna and went out of his way to say uncomplimentary things about her, must surely have contributed to the split.

Only Anil was convinced that I can do comedy: Kangana

After a string of films where she portrayed a troubled woman, Kangana Ranaut is all set to change audience perception about her with a comedy film “No Problem” and she thanks Anil Kapoor, who is producing the comedy, for giving her the opportunity.

“I had decided whenever I do my first comedy it would have to be either with Anees Bazmee or David Dhawan. Everyone thought I was wrong for the part in ‘No Problem’. No one was convinced I could do comedy, not after playing all those traumatised roles. But Anilji convinced everyone that I could,” Kangana told IANS.

The film is being directed by Anees Bazmee and also stars Sushmita Sen.

“So far I’ve never had fun on the sets. All the characters I’ve played have been introverted and troubled. So I’ve been in my shell. During ‘Fashion’ Madhur Bhandarkar used to scold me for being in a shell all the time. But if I play insecure, paranoid characters, I can’t be laughing and playing around. But it was the nature of the characters.

“For Anees Bazmi’s film I’m changing completely. I’m going to organise parties on the sets, constantly crack Santa-Banta jokes and, most important of all, I will bond with Sushmita (Sen). Hopefully our bonding will last beyond one film,” she said.

After signing a film together, Sushmita has taken the lovely Kangana under her wings. Always known to be warm towards her co-stars, Sushmita has taken a special fancy to Kangana because of her facial resemblance to Sushmita’s daughter Renee.

“On the first day that we met, we struck a special chord in each other’s hearts. I was standing at a premiere and she came up to me. She held my face in her hands and said I’ve hair exactly like her daughter. And that whenever she saw me she was reminded of her daughter.

“From that moment onwards we bonded. Luckily, I play Sushmita’s sister in the film that we’re doing together. I love calling her didi,” said the actress who won best supporting actress Filmfare award for her performance in “Fashion”.

Kangana, who starred in films like “Woh Lamhe” and “Gangster - A Love Story”, is pleased to be finally doing comedy.

“I was really hurt when people said I was destined only to play tragic roles. I wanted to do comedy for the longest time. And that I’ve Sushmita playing my sister in the film is an added bonus. We’ll have a ball playing sisters,” she said.

Kangana's Bash Debut

Will celebrate b'day with beau Adhyayan and units of her upcoming films. Co-stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra won't attend though!Kangana Ranaut will be celebrating her birthday by hosting a bash at a luxury hotel tonight. She has invited the units of Raaz, Fashion and Kites. This is the first time that the actress is hosting a bash.

"Everyone associated with these films is coming. We will sing, dance, eat and celebrate life.

No one will be allowed to sit still. All my invitees either have to be dancing or doing something.

The theme for my birthday is life. I just want to have a good time on my birthday.

Unfortunately, my Fashion co-star Priyanka Chopra and Kites co-star Hrithik Roshan can't come. One is in Hong Kong and the other in London. But everyone else will be there."

What does beau Adhyayan Suman plan to gift her?

"I hope... nothing. He ends up spending too much money on something I don't want. He's just starting his career. And I don't want him to spend money."

The concerned girlfriend has many birthday wishes. "I want to be happy always. And I'm working towards it. I'm eliminating from my life everything that makes me unhappy."
