Barabanki land deals continue to haunt Amitabh Bachachan
Barabanki land deals keep on to trouble Amitabh Bachachan. This time focus shifts to the promised Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Girls Inter College that proved a non-starter, much to the chagrin of the villagers in the dusty little hamlet of Daulatpur, 40 km off Lucknow, despite a high profile opening ceremony held two years ago.
On Monday, additional chief judicial magistrate (fast track) directed Mohamadpur police to look into a criticism against the superstar filed by the village Pradhan Rajkumari Singh, who has tried tripping Bachchan second time within a year incidentally. In her complaint filed before the court, Singh has charged the actor with fraud, cheating and criminal conspiracy among slew of other serious allegations.
Bachchan is named along with six other accomplices, including daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Nishtha Foundation -- run by Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Prada and its secretary Devendra Kumar. Singh has demanded lodging of an FIR against the guilty. Taking cognizance of the matter, the court has ordered the police to probe the issue and submit its report on June 10.
The complainant accuses the actor of hatching a conspiracy to acquire land for the girls inter college by fooling the gullible villagers and gifting the same to Nishtha Foundation in an illegal manner.
Talking to TOI, Ranvir Singh, Rajkuari Singh's counsel, said that though the entire transaction regarding the promised girls college was fraudulent, the pradhan's objection mainly centred around the transfer of "gata no 711 and 793". Bachchan, he said, had given up his claims on the land in his affidavit filed before the high court in a bid to wriggle out of the land scam controversy.
"In 2006, the land was registered in the name of Vinay Kumar Shukla his `mukhtar-e-aam' (armed with power of attorney), who later sold the same to Bachchan even though he had ownership of only 1/3rd of the plot. Bachchan and others, says the complaint, was well aware of the reality still the land was transferred to Aishwarya Rai by a registered deed on September 22, 2009.
"Bachchan has been playing games all along," says Avnendra Singh, Rajkumari's son and the de facto pradhan. "Only proper investigation would reveal the extent of fraud involved in the transaction," he said and claimed that several MPs and MLAs contributed generously to the project from their official funds while others used the opportunity for getting income tax rebate.
Meanwhile, Rajkumari has no clue about her role. The illiterate village woman remained silent in the court room letting his son and lawyer take charge. Avnendra effectively ensured that she kept off media and whisked her away. Later when contacted, he claimed the pradhan had gone out of town on some urgent work.
Last October, she had approached the district magistrate, Barabanki, crying foul when Amitabh gifted the Daulatpur land to Nishta Foundation for setting up the inter college. Singh had pleaded that the land was already donated by the actor to the village council therefore the transaction was a forgery.
A five-member committee headed by SDM, Barabanki had probed the charges and give a clean chit to Bachchan on technical grounds even as the actor formally handed over the land to the foundation later on. And even as the local police begins investigations, a section of villagers have begun to question the motive behind "yet another publicity stunt by anti-Amitabh caucus".

"While father required five to six hours daily to put up the make-up, he required another good two hours to remove it," he said.

Even in this age roles are written for him. Every film maker is dreaming to cast him in his/her film. He was declared as Star of the Millennium by BBC poll, by Stardust and even at the survey for statue at Madam Tusad.

Big B: a Matter of faith
Amitabh Bachchan, the epitome of good culture, is one of the most secular Bollywood superstars. He never talks about his faith because he believes that it is a very private subject; and yet when people in the Hindi film industry observe him closely, they can’t help but speak about the subject.

When Bachchan with wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya made a quiet entry at the prayer meeting organised by Fardeen Khan and sister Laila for their father Feroz Khan, the recital of the Holy Quran was on. The room was already full with the exception of a few chairs at the back, but Raj Kumar Tiwari, Fardeen’s business manager, invited the Bachchans upfront where additional chairs sprang up when the celebrity mourners arrived.
But as a mark of respect to the Holy Quran, Bachchan refused to walk further into the room. Said Tiwari, “Instead, he chose to remain at the back.” As a result, Bachchan had to stand in queue for 45 minutes to meet Fardeen, Laila and their mother and convey his condolences.
Zayed Khan tried his best to get Bachchan to break the line and come forward, but the Big B flatly refused. “Sanjay Khan, Zayed and Fardeen are greatly indebted to Amitji and his family for not only attending the prayer meeting, but giving Feroz saab, the entire Khan family and their faith such great respect,” said a family member on behalf of the Khan khandaan.
Isn’t it said that in life, the line actually begins where great men stand; in this case Big B showed the way.

Big B, as he is fondly called, was recently in London filming alongside Sir Ben Kingsley for the film, but apparently wasn’t happy to see the unprepared unit in the last shooting stint of the film, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“When the film first went on the sets, the budget of the film was a mere Rs. 12 crore and now after shooting for over a year the film has crossed the budget of Rs.20 crore,” said a source.
“Big B is perhaps unhappy with the prospects of his film going over budget as no star would like to be in such a situation where his film is finding it difficult to recover its huge making cost especially in the present times of recession,” the source added.
Directed by Leena Yadav, “Teen Patti” is a movie on high-stake gambling.
Amitabh plays a professor who tutors the art of the game, but with a cause, to five of his brightest proteges - played by R. Madhavan and newcomers Siddharth Kher, Dhruv Ganesh, Vaibhav Talwar and Shraddha Kapoor.

Amitabh refused to work with Abhishek!
The Amitabh-Abhishek combination has always worked very well on screen (Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, KANK), then why did Sr. Bachchan refuse to work with Jr. Bachchan in Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Aladin’? Apparently it was Amitabh who requested Sujoy not to cast his son Abhishek along with him in the film!

Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh (of ‘Jhankaar Beats’ fame) revealed, “One afternoon when I was narrating the first draft of ‘Aladin’ to Mr. Bachchan, the initial script caught his attention but he was also quick to state; “Sounds interesting... but let’s not consider Abhishek for Aladin’s role. We are already doing a few films together... so let’s take a fresh face this time”. That’s how we thought of casting Riteish. Riteish is a very close friend of Abhishek and thus bonded very well with Amitabh.
We hope the new 'Aladin – Genie' combination will create magic at the box-office too.

Amitabh Bachchan Turns Stylist

Amitabh Bachchan has always been a trend-setter, but this time he goes a step further by adding a personal touch to his character.
While planning a shoot for a special number for his forthcoming film ‘Aladin’, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, Mr. Bachchan suggested doing his own styling for the song’s picturisation.
Apparently Mr. Bachchan was extremely excited about the groovy track picturised on himself and Riteish Deshmukh and while planning the shoot for the peppy number, expressed his desire to contribute to the song in his very own way: by choosing his own outfit for it!
Of course, the director willingly agreed and Mr. Bachchan went on to chose a deep red velvet jacket which added that extra touch of grandeur to his already larger-than-life persona in the film.
Now that’s what we call flaunting your style with panache!

I doesn't like Bachchan presence: Biapsha Basu
Bipasha Basu missed the showing of Shiamak Davar's collection launched by a sportswear company on Thursday night. What's particularly interesting about this bit of news is that Bipasha is the brand ambassador of said company.

A source present at the event says, "Shiamak and Reebok tied up to present his collection of the Bollywood workout program and the fashionable dance collection on Thursday night at a suburban hotel. Bipasha too was invited to the launch as she's the company's brand ambassador. But she didn't turn up even though she was in Mumbai."
The source further says, "Initially, Bipasha had committed to attend but something happened and she didn't turn up at the last moment leaving the organisers flustered. Fortunately, Shiamak saved the show with hiscrew putting a performance put up by specially challenged children.
Apparently, Bipasha was miffed that Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan had also been invited at her event and she wouldn't get solo coverage which she had wanted to promote her film, Aa Dekhen Zara, that released yesterday. Shiamak had sent her T-Shirts with the sportswear logo and design a day before the event but she still didn't go."
Bipasha's spokesperson says, "This is not true at all. It was more a Shiamak event than a Reebok event. Bipasha would have loved to attend it because she's the company's brand ambassador and also because Shiamak is a friend.
She was an invitee and it wasn't imperative that she attend the event. Also the timings clashed with her prior commitment for her movie (Aa Dekhen Zara) promotions and a preview screening on the eve of the film's release. The timings were clashing for both events and hence she couldn't attend the same. The brand had invited her on Tuesday for the event on Thursday and they were informed at the same time about the timing stress."

Big B is a Ranbir Kapoor's fan
Two-film-old Ranbir Kapoor has found an admirer in none other than megastar Amitabh Bachchan. "He (Ranbir Kapoor) has shaped up so well in his career so far and with such ease and rapidity.

Cannot imagine he was assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali as an AD (Assistant Director) on Black," Amitabh wrote on his blog.
"He and Sonam Kapoor were assistants on the set together. And now look at them. Big stars in their own right. Feels so wonderful to watch how this generation grows and accomplishes itself," he added.
